New addition to the LEAP team
Lockton has hired Luke Speight in December 2024 as UK Head of Fintech and Digital Assets, heading up Lockton’s Emerging Asset Protection (LEAP) team in Europe. He will lead a group of experts providing tailored risk and insurance solutions to fintech and digital asset companies as they navigate their emerging risk landscape.
Luke brings over a decade of experience working with emerging technology companies, specialising in fintech and digital assets. He joins Lockton from Aon, where he served as Client Director for Fintech and Digital Assets, overseeing a diverse portfolio of clients in this space. Prior to his time at Aon, Luke was a Director at Willis Towers Watson (WTW) within their FINEX division, leading Digital Assets.
LEAP wins major account
Lockton’s Emerging Asset Protection (LEAP) team has been selected as the insurance broker for a large Latin American digital asset custodian with, as of June 2025, over US$600 million worth of Bitcoin under management.
How did the deal come about?
Bob Williams from the LEAP team spent time with colleagues in Lockton’s Miami office to educate colleagues on the digital asset industry and associate insurance cover. This equipped our LATAM team to identify opportunities and starting conversations with potential clients. Once an opportunity arose, our team in LATAM partnered with LEAP through the process.
Who led the pitch?
This was a real global team effort and partnership between Mario Martinez, Head of Lockton Central America, Daniel Court, Head of Professional and Executive Risk – Latin America & Caribbean, and Bob Williams from LEAP.

This was due to a combination of our local relationship and global expertise in the digital asset space. This gave the client the confidence that Lockton was the right partner to secure their assets.
