The Energy Transition sector is moving at pace, with growth fueled by electrification, renewable generation, and rising power demand from data centers and AI infrastructure. As energy systems become more connected, organizations are unlocking new opportunities, but they are also operating in a more complex risk environment. Broader geopolitical and supply chain pressures are also shaping the market. Equipment availability, extended lead times and pressure on global trade routes continue to affect project delivery and increase the potential for BI exposure. As a result, insurers are placing greater emphasis on resilience planning and operational preparedness.

Technical understanding is another increasingly important differentiator. Organizations that can demonstrate strong engineering, proven operating performance, and a clear understanding of operational dependencies continue to attract the strongest insurer interest. Projects involving emerging technologies or complex infrastructure arrangements are more likely to face detailed review and additional scrutiny.

At the same time, insurers are taking a closer look at loss severity. Inflation, supply chain constraints, and longer reinstatement periods are increasing the potential impact of claims. Declared values, BI assumptions and the resilience of supporting infrastructure are attracting greater attention as insurers seek to better understand the full picture behind a risk.

Outlook

The outlook remains positive. Investment in electrification, renewable generation and supporting infrastructure is expected to continue driving growth across the sector. Capacity remains available for established technologies and insurer appetite remains strong for well-prepared risks.
